GAZAID Quiz Night
A fun night was had by all on 18th September 2009 at St Brides ,guest quizmaster John Crawley kept the fun and the tension going as the Silent Auction and the Quiz were held along side each other with lots of food and drinks to help the night along everyone was a winner especially the recipients of the fund-raising project- the people of Gaza who are living in rubble with a constant threat of being evicted even from that, and in particular our adopted cause ,the re- building of the mother and baby clinic there. As a result of a small group of people in Liverpool having a good,inexpensive night out in a local church we raised 250 pounds for them and made new friends,can’t be bad! Bridges Foundation Presentation on Islam at St Bride's
This was an innovative event in the move forward to understanding faith in its many forms that we at St Brides are persuing. The audience was of mixed faiths and cultures,the presentation on Islam was fascinating in many ways, in particular that the similarities,not the differences with our faiths predominated, this was also reflected in the discussion that followed.
All agreed that this is just the beginning and more needs to be done to bring us closer and to achieve greater understanding. It was also agreed that this should be repeated across different faiths and build on the range of faiths involved . A very successful and pleasant afternoon although we aknowledge that none of the difficult questions were asked and that they will come when a real bond has been achieved Gina Shaw
