Living the Questions

People know that at its core, Christianity has something good to offer humanity. At the same time, many have a sense that they are alone in being a "thinking" Christian and that "salvaging" Christianity is a hopeless task. What is needed is a safe environment where people have permission to ask the questions they've always wanted to ask but have been afraid to voice for fear of being thought a heretic. Coming this OCTOBER at St Bride's, "Living the Questions" is an exploration of Progressive Christianity.  Click here to see an introductory video

The IChoir at St Bride's

We're a small friendly choir and we always welcome new singers and musicians. We perform 8 or 9 times a year at events around the city. We really enjoy our singing and we work hard to get out music sounding as good as it can be - but we're also here to enjoy ourselves, an to have fun, so the atmosphere is nice and relaxed. In fact we think singing is a great way to let your hair down and build confidence. Our our repertoire is a varied mix from the Beatles, Mamas and Papas & Simon & Garfunkel to the Eagles.......with a sprinkling of gospel......and we love singing The Coventry Carol at any time of year!

We are directed by our professional conductor,Chris, who rehearses the choir every Tuesday from 5.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. at St Bride's Church, Catherine Street, Liverpool. You're welcome to come and get an idea of what we do - we have a tea break half way through our rehearsal and a well eared pint after - so there's plenty of time to have a chat!

For more information call Mike on 07984314440 or email theichoir@googlemail.com

Poem of the Week

The Kingdom by R.S. Thomas

It’s a long way off but inside it
There are quite different things going on:
Festivals at which the poor man
Is king and the consumptive is
Healed; mirrors in which the blind look
At themselves and love looks at them
Back; and industry is for mending
The bent bones and the minds fractured
By life. It’s a long way off, but to get
There takes no time and admission
Is free, if you will purge yourself
Of desire, and present yourself with
Your need only and the simple offering
Of your faith, green as a leaf. _______________________________________________________________________________________________
